Execute Him!

At the current time in the CaC2 Battle, Gnawthrul Haniri has just been summoned to surrender by Valin Sarsis, younger brother of Kazadan Sarsis and a Jedi Master, on Cloud City. I protest. I urge that Gnawthrul should not be captured. I urge that he should be executed for his crimes. Gnawthrul is an unrepentant murderer. Only trouble comes of keeping him alive. And, most of all—keeping him alive puts others in danger.

My first protest against keeping Gnawthrul alive is the fact that he is an unrepentant murderer. He obviously enjoys killing, and he has killed many—Si Dan, Mark Tane and his family, Ona Lay and two other Jedi Council members, Kiella, and many more off-screen. The role of the Jedi is to preserve life and protect the innocent from the evil of the Sith. Wake up, Jedi! Can you not see that Gnawthrul will not change his ways? Should not the Jedi be just and rid the galaxy of such a blight as Gnawthrul? Or are Valin and Neera, Si Dan’s own Padawans, secretly Dark Side adherents? Why else do they protest against killing Gnawthrul, against executing him? Why else do they think this unrepentant murderer should not die?

My second protest against keeping Gnawthrul alive is that only trouble comes of leaving him alive. Jorus died because Neera saved Gnawthrul’s life. In a one-on-one battle, Jorus nearly slew Gnawthrul, but then Neera irrationally intervened, rescuing Gnawthrul from his deserved death. Gnawthrul then escaped from chains in the Council Hall, killing three of the Council members and later Mark Tane. Jorus followed Gnawthrul in order to bring about justice, fought him in the Jedi hangars, rescued Kian, and then acted upon his intention to fight Gnawthrul. Matrus intervened there and slew Jorus. If Gnawthrul had died at Jorus’s hand in the Temple, if Gnawthrul had been executed, Jorus would not have been pressured to face him again, this time outside the Temple, where Jorus died at Matrus’s hand. Most likely, Matrus would not have even come to the Temple if Gnawthrul was not there. As a direct result of Neera’s action, Jorus, Mark, and three Council members died that same day. As is obvious, only trouble comes of keeping Gnawthrul alive, and therefore he should not be allowed to live.

My third protest against keeping Gnawthrul alive is that it puts others in danger. If he is kept alive, how many more characters will Gnawthrul have killed by the end of the Battle? Is it true, is it right, is it just, to allow Gnawthrul to live? He will only escape again. Last time he was captured, he lost an arm, a leg, and half of his face, and yet he was able to escape from the Council, four Jedi Knights, and Jorus, killing three of them in the process and leading also to Jorus’s death. Later, Gnawthrul commanded that Vastator fire upon Cloud City at his command. All these innocents, the citizens of Cloud City, have died because of Gnawthrul’s survival. Gnawthrul is a murderer; we have already established that. Only trouble comes of keeping him alive; we have already established that. And do we allow him to be captured, not executed, again? We know that he will only escape again and kill more Jedi in the process. What exploits against innocents will Gnawthrul lead if he is kept alive? The Jedi are failing to act in accordance with the very calling of their Order—the protectors of the galaxy! They cannot possibly allow Gnawthrul to live any longer without compromising their beliefs. As such, it is crystal clear to me, as it should be crystal clear to you, that Gnawthrul’s survival means danger to others, and therefore he should not be allowed to live.

With all my heart, with every fiber of my being, I most highly advocate that Gnawthrul should not be allowed to live. He is an unrepentant murderer, as seen from nearly forty years of dark deeds and evil. Only trouble will come of allowing him to live, as evidenced from the deaths of Jorus, a fourth of the Jedi Council, and Mark Tane. His very existence puts others in danger. This is my conclusion. I call for an immediate execution of Gnawthrul Haniri. I call for a lawsuit against Neera Talinth and Valin Sarsis examining their loyalty—or disloyalty—to the Order. I call for a reinforcement of the Jedi Order’s calling. We must weed out the dissenters and saboteurs from the Jedi Order. We must rid the galaxy of the vermin that live for evil. If this does not happen, then there is no hope for the galaxy. If this does not happen, the Jedi and those they failed to protect will die. If this does not happen, the Sith will triumph.

  1. Hear, hear!

Though, I still think that Kian or someone should be the one to kill Gnawthrul. Not Valin.

  2. Well, it's up to Gamey if Gnawthrul is going to die. I think he has probably made up his mind about that. It is certainly feasible that he live, if such is Gamey's desire. My mysterious Dark Hunter could come to his aid quickly, for one thing.
But if Gnawthrul must die, I think it should be in a very epic battle to the death. I don't think a respectable Jedi could kill anyone who is disarmed and currently a non-combatant. But as far as WHO does it, I don't really know Gnawthrul's background connection with other characters

  3. And as a followup speculation: With no good-willed and divine being, only a "Force" that is equal parts evil and good, is there really any hope for the galaxy? What controls the galaxy besides corrupt human/sentient nature? Is there really any absolute right or wrong in this fictional galaxy? If there is, from where or whom?
