CaC2 Card Game (Top Trumps)

Hi all!

Recently, Jag and I have been developing a CaC2-themed version of the card game Top Trumps, which is quite a hit in our family…

Anyway. How to Play (from a legit Top Trumps card pack)

Any number of people can play.
Shuffle and deal all the cards face down. Each player holds their cards, face up, in the palm of their hand. Players can only look at their top card.
The player to the dealer's left starts by reading out an item from the top card (eg, Bravery 21).
The other players then read out the same item. The one with the best or highest value wins and places all the top cards including their own to the bottom of their pile.
It is then their turn again to choose an item from the next card.
If 2 or more cards share the top value or no data is available for that particular subject then all the cards are placed in the middle and the same player chooses again from the next card.
The winner of the hand takes the cards in the middle as well.

Pardon the grammatical errors in the section above. That was the manual's fault, not mine. Seriously.

So, anyway, the thirty characters Jag and I picked from CaC2 are, in order:

  1. Essa Haniri
  2. Alessa Haniri-Tain
  3. Javez Geten
  4. Athia Savant
  5. Koynar Tol
  6. Gnawthrul Haniri
  7. Nordan Haniri
  8. Kian Shekk
  9. Kazadan Sarsis
  10. Cypher Solari
  11. Jorus Travar
  12. Xyerra Tirith
  13. Azong Tiye
  14. Si Dan (originally Pyre)
  15. Naina Raynt
  16. Veraena Tai
  17. Daemora Tai
  18. Jaraal Starrunner
  19. Inir Tarath
  20. Tarmys Darumar
  21. Cald Arenna
  22. Djo-im Pollick
  23. Piknab Low Ta
  24. Iggy Ruffel
  25. Morcarcion
  26. Dorn Thelcar
  27. Mark Tane
  28. Matrus
  29. Lord Cyndar
  30. Barras Kampion
Since Sunday, we've been working on and off on this project, and today, we finished it. Here's a snapshot of the card pack we have now produced.

As you can see, each card has the character's name and their unique statistics. The aim of the game is to get all of the cards. And yes, I set up that stack so that Jorus was on the top. You can also see Barras, Djo-im, Tarmys, Jaraal, the top of Tai from Veraena Tai, Si Dan, Essa Haniri, and Darth Matrus.

I backed the cards with blue card to make them easier to shuffle and play with. That turned out well, and I like the look of the cards now, back and front.

Anyway, I had a game with Raptor and Jag. Jag lost. Raptor backed out halfway through and gave his cards to Jag. I won.

Here's my invitation. If any of you ever come to the Pendragon/Vrangeree/Starblade residence, I invite you to play this game with us, and if I'm still running this blog then, I'll post the results and (MAYBE) a picture of us playing it. No promises about the last part. Repeat, no promises.

If you want to make this game yourself, email me, and I'll see if I can get Jag to send you the print-version chart. And please don't scream at me because Tarmys, Jorus, Jaraal and Cald are the best cards and your own aren't as good. There are specific benefits to being good at things.

Anyway, this post is long enough now. Signing off,
